The exhibition will take place in Brussels from 2 to 3 March 2009 and which will run alongside the conference called "Creativity and Innovation – Best practice from EU programmes". From the 200 projects invited to compete to take part in this exhibition, SPICES was chosen by a panel of 10 independent experts as an example of best practice in the field of creativity and innovation, helping to illustrate how DG Education and Culture supports this important subject which is at the heart of European Union policies. |

Gabriella B. Klein and Sandro Caruana (eds.): Intercultural Communication in Bureaucratic-institutional Contexts (Proceedings of the Final Conference of the European Project SPICES – Social Promotion of Intercultural Communication Expertise and Skills - 224945-CP-1-2005-1-IT-GRUNDTVIG-G11, Perugia/Italy, 21.09.2007), Conversarii. Studi linguistici del CLA. Didattica, vol. 2. Perugia: Guerra Edizioni, 2008. 415 pp. Events occurring in daily life show that we do not possess enough communication tools in order to interact adequately and constructively in European contexts which are becoming increasingly multicultural. Furthermore, through these situations one also gains awareness of the fact that the tools that we do possess may not necessarily be adequate. This is particularly evident – sometimes in a dramatic fashion – in bureaucratic-institutional situations in which foreigners, i.e. ‘adults-in-mobility’, interact with service providers, i.e. ‘adults-professionally-in-contact-with-mobility’. The European Project called SPICES – Social Promotion of Intercultural Communication Expertise and Skills (224945-CP-1-2005-1-IT-GRUNDTVIG-G11, co-financed by the European Commission) dealt with these issues. It was held between 2005 and 2007 and the contributions that are presented in this volume are, directly or indirectly, the result of this project. |
